The Exchange Core Values

At our March interest meeting we unveiled the five core values that The Exchange will build it's foundation on. Our core values are characteristics based on God’s Word that will be built into our DNA as a church and as individuals. We believe so strongly in these statements that we will make decisions based around them and do everything we can to help new people who come to The Exchange understand what we are about and why.

You can view the values below or to download your copy of The Exchange core values click here - Core Values.

At The Exchange we're exchanging...

IDEAS for TRUTH - No more believing that there are multiple ways to get to God, we teach Jesus as the only way and He is at the center of all we do.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through me. John 14:6

SELFISHNESS for SERVING - A mindset shift not intended for the faint of heart! Although serving when we fill like being selfish goes against everything we know, we will serve others because it's in line with God's Word.

And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again. 2 Corinthians 5:15

PLEASING for REACHING - We won’t be about pleasing people, but about reaching the lost. We will make decisions based on who we will reach rather than who we will keep.
Jesus answered them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have
not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Luke 5:31-32
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10

KEEPING for DISPERSING - Don’t be a knowledge hoarder, always keeping what you’ve learned to yourself. As you learn more about God and His Word, share it with other people! This is how we multiply.
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, Hebrews 10:23-24

FORGETTING for CELEBRATING - We’re over pew sitting and taking for granted all that God does. We’re about celebrating life-change and actively responding to what God has done for us!
Many, LORD my God, are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us. None can compare with you; were I to speak and tell of your deeds, they would be too many to declare. Psalm 40:5

Highlights from the March Interest Meeting

Sunday night was our 3rd public interest meeting where we personally invited anyone to come and hear more about what God is doing through The Exchange in Pearl. We were so excited to see new people as well as some returning faces take part in the meeting at the Pearl Community Room! At the meeting we laid out the background and vision for The Exchange. This month we also unveiled our five core values that will be built into our DNA as individuals and as a church. (For more information on our core values check back next week.) Finally, we spent time continuing to look at the foundational passage for The Exchange - 2 Corinthians 5:14-21. This month we looked at verse 16 that says, "So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer." We discussed what it would look like if The Exchange, as the church, no longer viewed people from a wordily point of view.

We are launching the first round of our small group communities called LIFEgroups in a little over a week, and we saw almost 30 people sign up to join a group at our March meeting! Through LIFEgroups people will have the chance to not only study the Word together but also to do life with one another. LIFEgroups will meet in different homes and for the first five weeks groups will be walking through a study on our core values.

God continues to blow our minds as He builds the team to help launch a new movement to transform a city and a region! Mark your calendars to be a part of the final interest meeting Sunday, April 15th at 6pm at the Community Room in Pearl.

February 5:15 Serve Day Recap

This past Saturday The Exchange took part in our second 5:15 serve day where we aim to live out the second verse from our foundational passage - 2 Corinthians 5:15 "He died for all that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again." This month we partnered with a number of churches in the Jackson metro area to take part in SHINE 2012. A day where thousands of people are mobilized to serve the metro area. The Exchange team served at the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Pearl and at Pearl Lower Elementary. At the Crisis Pregnancy Center the team did some outside cleanup and also helped inside sorting through clothes and donations. At Pearl Lower Elementary the team worked to plant a brand new flower bed at the school's entrance.

Highlights from the February Interest Meeting

Sunday night was our 2nd public interest meeting where we personally invited anyone to come and hear more about what God is doing through this new church in Pearl. We were so excited to see new people take part in the meeting at the Pearl Community Room! At the meeting we laid out why it makes sense to plant a new church, why we believe God is calling us to plant in Pearl, and why we are called The Exchange. We also spent time looking at the foundational passage for The Exchange -
2 Corinthians 5:14-21. This month we looked at verse 15 that says, "And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again." We discussed how although the idea of no longer living for ourselves is contrary to our nature, our world, and sometimes even our view of church, ultimately this idea is right in line with the Word and the way Jesus lived His life.

God is doing some amazing things as He continues to build a team of individuals to love and serve this city with His message of grace and love. Mark your calendars to be a part of the next interest meeting Sunday, March 18th at 6pm at the Community Room in Pearl.
